TimberTech DrySpace Under-Deck Drainage
TimberTech DrySpace is an under-deck drainage system that installs from below. Vinyl V-shaped panels clip into brackets fastened along the underside of your joists, catch the water that comes through the gaps between deck boards, and channel it out past the edge of the deck. Because none of the work happens on top of the frame, DrySpace can be added to a deck that is already built and finished.
How a DrySpace System Goes Together
Every joist bay gets its own V-panel. The panel edges ride in combo brackets that run along the joists, and where two panel runs meet, a double combo bracket carries both edges at once. At the house, an F-bracket at the ledger board closes off that end so water is pushed away from the wall instead of toward it, which is the detail that separates a real drainage system from a tarp. The kits cover six joist bays at a time and are made for both 12-inch and 16-inch on-center framing.
We Frame at 12 Inches on Center
Our standard deck framing is 12 inches on center, tighter than the code minimum most builders stop at. For DrySpace that pays off twice: the panel spans are shorter, so the vinyl runs flatter and stiffer overhead, and the decking above has less flex underfoot. It is the same reason our TimberTech and AZEK decking installs sit so flat.
The Big Advantage: It Works on an Existing Deck
This is the main reason we reach for DrySpace. If you already have a deck you like and you simply want the patio or storage area underneath to stay dry, DrySpace gets you there without pulling up a single deck board. We work from a scaffold or ladder below, hang the brackets, set the panels, and detail the ledger and the outside edge so the water has somewhere to go. It is a clean, contained job compared to dismantling a deck surface.
Panel Colors and the Ceiling Below
DrySpace panels come in Bone and White. You will be looking up at them from the patio, so the color choice is a real design decision rather than a throwaway. White reads bright and keeps a shaded patio from feeling like a cave. Bone is softer and hides dust and pollen better. If you want the underside to look fully finished, we can run a ceiling, recessed lighting, and fans below the panels so the drainage disappears entirely.
DrySpace or Trex RainEscape?
We install both systems and we will tell you honestly which one fits your project. Trex RainEscape installs above the joists before the decking goes down, so it belongs on a new build where we control the whole assembly from the framing up. TimberTech DrySpace installs below the joists, so it belongs on a deck that already exists. If you are building new and undecided, we will price both.
